The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Aksaray University was established in 1992 within Niğde University and continued its operations as part of Aksaray University, which commenced its educational activities in 2006. Our Department began admitting students in 2006 under the name Public Administration and graduated its first cohort in 2010. Since 2014, the Department has been named Political Science and Public Administration.
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration aims to train qualified professionals for the public bureaucracy, develop managerial personnel capable of analytical thinking to meet the needs of the private sector, and provide a strong theoretical foundation for students seeking to pursue careers in active politics. In line with these objectives, our educational model adopts a dynamic structure that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical competencies.
Our vision is to combine the legacy of training statesmen and public administrators, rooted in the Enderun tradition, with contemporary approaches to governance. Through a four-year undergraduate programme enriched by internship opportunities, our Department aims to educate future leaders and administrators who are committed to public ethics, capable of managing crises, and equipped with strategic decision-making skills.
Student placements are carried out by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), taking applicants' preferences into account. Students who are entitled to enrol in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Aksaray University are required to complete their registration within the specified period.
The admission of international students is subject to the criteria established by ÖSYM and the quotas allocated by the University. Students who successfully complete the programme may apply for master's and doctoral degrees in Political Science and Public Administration or in other academic disciplines that accept graduates from this field.
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Aksaray University provides education in four main academic divisions: Political and Social Sciences, Administrative Sciences, Legal Sciences, and Urbanization Sciences.
Courses are delivered on a semester basis and assessed through a combination of midterm examinations, quizzes, assignments, portfolios, projects, practical activities, and a final examination. The midterm examination, together with the quizzes, assignments, portfolios, projects, and practical activities, accounts for 40% of the student's overall course grade, while the final examination accounts for the remaining 60%. The student's overall course grade is determined by combining these assessment components.
Students are required to attend classes, practical sessions, and examinations. Attendance is monitored by the instructor responsible for each course.
To successfully complete the programme, students must pass all required courses, earning a total of 240 ECTS credits, and achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 on a 4.00-point scale.
Students' educational development and career planning are supported through technical visits, internship programmes, and career meetings.
Technical Visits: Institutional visits are organized to provide students with opportunities to observe the operations of public institutions firsthand.
Internship Programmes: These programmes enable students to gain practical experience in public institutions and the private sector, thereby applying the knowledge and skills acquired through their academic studies.
Career Meetings: Vision-oriented meetings are organized to facilitate interaction with local government executives, senior public officials, and representatives of the private sector.
